Each year, we help present a pre-Christmas luxury raffle for the Center. This year’s First Prize is the 2010 Lexus IS 250 C peak-of-luxury retracting-hardtop Convertible , a brand-new model for 2010, that sits right now at Houston’s front door. There are only 2000 tickets, making the odds 2000-to-1 that yours is the ticket to ride. In the December 6 drawing you could also win a $2,500 HEB gift card, or a round-trip for two on Continental Airlines.
The Center for Child Protection, a nationally accredited children’s advocacy center, is the first stop for children in Travis County who are suspected victims of sexual abuse or physical abuse, and for children who have witnessed a violent crime. The Center is a child-friendly, specially-equipped facility where children go for a recorded forensic interviews, medical exams, counseling and intervention during the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. It is the only nonprofit in Travis County involved in the investigation of crimes against children. All services are provided to children and their protective caregivers at no charge. In 2008, the Center served more than 1,500 children.
